Who we are

Sapphire Studios (ABN 66 481 618 329) is an independent app studio in Australia. We make apps and games for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, published on the App Store. This policy explains how we handle information in our apps and on this website. If you have a question about it, email us at .

The short version

  • We don’t sell your personal information.
  • Some free apps show ads from Google AdMob. Whether ads can be personalised using your device’s advertising identifier is up to you, through Apple’s tracking permission.
  • Payments are handled by Apple. We never see your card details.
  • If you email us, we use your message only to reply and help.

Information we collect

When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address and anything you include in your message, such as device details or screenshots.

Data stored in our apps

Our apps typically keep things like game progress, scores and settings on your device. Deleting an app removes the data it stored only on that device. Where an app uses Apple services such as Game Center or iCloud, that data is handled by Apple under its own privacy policy.

App permissions

If an app needs access to something on your device, such as the camera, microphone, photos, notifications or location, it asks your permission first and uses that access only for the feature you’re using. You can change permissions at any time in Settings. Each app’s App Store listing also shows a privacy summary of the data it may collect.

App analytics from Apple

Apple gives us aggregated statistics, such as downloads, sessions and crash reports, from people who choose to share analytics with app developers. These reports don’t identify you personally.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

Some of our free apps show ads served by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, and to prevent fraud, AdMob may collect information such as your device’s IP address, approximate location, device type, ad interactions and, only if you allow tracking, your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA).

On iPhone and iPad, apps must ask before tracking you. If you choose “Ask App Not to Track”, the advertising identifier isn’t shared and you may see less relevant ads. You can change this at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.

Purchases

Our apps are downloaded through the App Store, and any purchases or subscriptions are processed by Apple. We don’t receive your payment card details. Apple’s handling of that information is covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

This website

This site is hosted on GitHub Pages. It doesn’t use cookies, analytics or advertising. Like any web host, GitHub may log technical information such as IP addresses for security, and the site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when fonts are downloaded. See GitHub’s privacy statement and Google’s Privacy Policy.

How we use and share information

We use information to reply to you, to provide, fix and improve our apps, and to show ads in free apps. We don’t sell personal information. We share it only with the service providers described above (Apple, Google and GitHub), when the law requires it, or to protect the safety and rights of our users and our studio.

Children’s privacy

Many of our apps are fun for all ages. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children, and our apps don’t ask children to provide it. Parents and guardians can limit ad tracking and in-app purchases with Screen Time and Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or ask a question about how we handle it. Email us and we’ll respond within a reasonable time.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles. If you’re not happy with how we’ve handled a privacy concern, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC). If you live elsewhere, such as in the EU, UK or a US state with a privacy law, you may have similar rights under your local laws, and we’ll honour them.

Security, storage and transfers

We keep emails only as long as we need them to help you and run our studio, and we take reasonable steps to protect information. Our service providers may store and process information on servers outside Australia, including in the United States.
